Child material deprivation: within region disparities by degree of urbanization

This paper analyzes the impact of degree urbanization on child material deprivation by region in Spain. Using EU-SILC 2009 and 2014 special module deprivation, we find that living a city or town, with respect to village, increases larger extent than household income. The effect income becomes only among households largest (top quintile). Differentiating needs, children’s basic needs provision does not respond urbanization, whereas educational/leisure does. Finally, our results support idea regions sufficiently high densely populated areas increase deprivation. Our findings might be help for politicians policymakers design more effective policies intended alleviate incidence go beyond incomerelated programs.
